Roomba Combination from iRobot
The iRobot Combo is a robot that can mop and vacuum. The iRobot Combo doesn't quite replace our Editors' Choice winner, the Deebot X1 Omni. It is more efficient and comes with an app for mobile devices that is easier to use but it's an excellent alternative. It is able to pick up dirt from carpets and hard floors. Its obstacle avoidance isn't as advanced as other systems like LiDAR or structured light, but it still is able to avoid most collisions.
The Combo comes with many of the same features that the j7 Plus does, including onboard acoustic sensor to determine the type of floor and AI-powered Navigation. However, it doesn't have the ability to set suction power by hand. It's also a little less compact than its vac-only model, and it doesn't have an auto-empty dock.
The Combo is one of my favorites for most homes. Its sleek design is also one of the best I've seen in the industry. The matte black finish is more elegant than the metallic or glossy finishes of most competitors. iRobot also adds some more elegant features, such as the leather tab to open the onboard bin, and a shelf to hold bags in the dock. The iRobot Combo also allows you to create maps of your home, and to set up Keep-Out Zones, No-Mop Zones and Clean Zones.
Roborock
Although Roborock is relatively new to the robot vacuum and mop market but it's already earned its name because of its innovative cleaning techniques. The brand's vacuums have industry-leading suction, and its mopping systems utilize vibrating mops to keep floors of dirt. You can also alter the bot's cleaning routine by using a variety of scheduling and mapping features.
Another amazing Roborock feature is the obstacle avoidance which allows the robot to see objects smaller than its height. This is particularly beneficial for the most popular Roborock models, such as the Qrevo Master, which is the best in its class in terms of navigation, courtesy of both vSLAM and LiDAR. Other robovacs are often seen to crash into furniture and run over pet faeces and faeces with no awareness but the Qrevo Master solves this issue by using an AI system called Reactive that utilizes twin cameras to detect the presence of objects in a room.
Roborock robots are also equipped with a number of convenience features that reduce the need for daily maintenance, such as auto-empty capable docks and multifunctional mop washing stations. The RCV 5 is easy to use and, despite being large at almost 4kg, it's not difficult to manoeuvre around furniture. While it can't raise its mops on carpets and rugs as the winning Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra it's very good at both cleaning hard floors as well as tackling damp mopping duties with impressive speed. It also comes with an auto-emptying bin, provides a good level of suction power, provides several mopping options and can be controlled by a top-quality application that runs on both iOS and Android.
It's a bit smaller than many of the competitors and its main brush is shorter than most but it still managed to make short work of our test area with ease. The edge brush that rotates on the side is a great feature. Although it didn't get rid of dirt as well as other competitors, it still performed well.
The individual cleaning parameters can be set up for each room and the device will create detailed maps of rooms with built-in LiDAR navigation. The application is simple to use and comes with various voice output options that will keep you informed about the progress of your robot. Regular updates to the software enhance and extend its performance. The application can also be used to remotely manage the RCV3 when you're away from home.
